Obituary

Mary P McKendry (nee Bowe), 81, passed into eternal peace on 20 January 2024 after a brief and unexpected illness. She is survived by her brother, Martin J. Bowe, a niece, two nephews, two grand-nieces, and four grand-nephews, as well as a great, grand-nephew and three great grand-nieces. Mary was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a lifetime parishioner of St Andrew Avellino. She was a past president of the Friendship Club, a long-time member of the Rosarian Society, and First Friday Club. Mary spent over 40 years as a dedicated U.S. Postal Service Employee. She deeply loved her family and her Mets! Mary was a wonderful and happy woman who loved her dogs and cats, and gave generously of her time and resources. Family and friends may call at Martin A Gleason funeral home, 149-20 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, New York on Thursday 25 January from 5:00-8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Andrew Avellino RC Church on Friday, 26 January at 10:00 am. Interment directly after at Mt St Mary’s Cemetery.
